About the Event
On May 27, NOVA IMS will host the final session of the UNIGIS Talks, an initiative marking the 25th anniversary of UNIGIS Portugal and the Master’s in Geographic Information Systems and Science.
Under the theme “Marine Data Enabling Digital Twins of the Ocean,” this session will explore the role of marine data in creating digital twins of the ocean – dynamic virtual representations that integrate information from satellites, sensors, buoys, and models. These solutions enable near real-time ocean monitoring, support a deeper understanding of ocean processes, and allow future scenarios to be simulated.
The session will present practical examples of how these approaches can be applied to ocean monitoring and support decision-making in areas such as sustainability, marine management, and climate change adaptation.
This online session will feature Professor Telmo Dias as keynote speaker and will be moderated by Professor Marco Painho.
Participation is open to the community, subject to prior registration.
