Professors Miguel de Castro Neto and Guilherme Victorino, Dean and Associate Dean for Value Creation at NOVA IMS, respectively, were present at the Web Summit in the presentation made by the Mayor of the Lisbon City Council, Carlos Moedas, about the Scale-Up program of Unicorn Factory Lisboa, in which NOVA IMS is a proud partner!Unicorn Factory Lisboa is a platform of programs and hubs that support startups and scaleups in creating disruptive products and business models and in developing efficient processes to scale globally and eventually become 'unicorns'. NOVA IMS has an important role in this partnership, supporting with innovation and data science competences, companies that are in their growth stage.
Professor Tiago Oliveira was recognized as a Highly Cited Researcher of 2022, being the only researcher from NOVA UNIVERSITY of LISBON and one of 18 researchers from Portugal present in this list!According to Clarivate, the company that identifies the most influential researchers in the world, “Of all the world’s researchers, they are one in 1,000”. The 6,938 researchers of excellence worldwide present in this list have demonstrated a significant impact in their scientific area, through several highly cited articles, ranked in the top 1% by citations in the scientific field throughout the year and the last decade. Congratulations Professor!
The launching session for the ALUMNI NOVA IMS Mentoring Program took place on November 10th.
In this 2022-23 edition of the Mentoring Program, the undergraduate students met their Alumni mentors, who will contribute to their academic and professional development, guiding them in the reflection of making better decisions regarding their future.
For the first time, Portugal had its own space in the Smart Cities Expo World Congress, in Barcelona, which took place on November 15th, 16th and 17th.The Smart Cities Expo World Congress in Barcelona is the main international event in Europe for the Smart Cities theme, bringing together experts, political decision-makers, mayors, companies and international organizations committed to create a better future for cities and citizens.
This iniciative had the support of aicep Portugal Global and the Consulate of Portugal in Barcelona.
Afshin Ashofteh, Maria Inês Silva e Frank Bivar Franque received the Doctoral insignias during the ceremony of "Day of NOVA" that took place at the NOVA's Rectory.
The NOVA IMS SU organized the Sports and Health Week, from the November 21st to November 25th! There were many activities in which Students participated, like traditional games, boxing classes, basketball and volleyball tournament.
It was a week full of energy and activities. We are looking forward the second round!

It have been 33 years providing education at the highest level, where difficulties have been overcome and several goals have been achieved. None of this would have been possible without the effort, dedication and involvement of the entire NOVA IMS community.

The Graduation Ceremony for the presentation of awards and diplomas for the 2021/2022 academic year took place at the NOVA University Rectory Auditorium, on December 6th.
After two years without having our Graduation Ceremonies, we are back! At this ceremony we had the pleasure to count with the participation of the Minister of Territorial Cohesion, Ana Abrunhosa, the Professor João Sàágua, Rector of the Nova University of Lisbon, the Dean of NOVA IMS, Professor Miguel de Castro Neto, the Vice-President of the NOVA IMS Alumni, Ivo Bernardo and the President of the NOVA IMS Students Association, Constança Rodrigues.
