Biografia

Márcia Lourenço Baptista é doutorada em Engineering Design and Advanced Engineering pelo Programa MIT Portugal (Instituto Superior Técnico). Ela ensina diversos tópicos em análise de dados e machine learning. A principal área de investigação é a análise preditiva, explainable AI e redes neuronais. Interessa-se em aplicar estas técnicas a Geographic Information Systems (GIS), tanto em estudos oceânicos e costeiros, como no desenvolvimento territorial. É autora de mais de 45 artigos científicos, a maioria classificados no Quartil 1 ou em conferências de grande impacto. Antes de ingressar na NOVA IMS, foi investigadora convidada em vários centros de investigação internacionais como NASA Research Center, ITA, Instituto Nacional de Informática em Tóquio e na Delft University of Technology.
