2025 Martin Anthony

Martin Anthony is passionate about mathematics and its role in shaping how machines learn. A Professor at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), he has held several leadership roles, including Head of Mathematics and Vice-Chair of the Academic Board. He currently leads LSE’s Data Science Institute, where he fosters dialogue between data science, AI and society.

His research focuses on the mathematical foundations of machine learning, with three monographs published in the field. A dedicated educator, Martin is known for his award-winning teaching and authorship of key undergraduate textbooks. He has contributed to international higher education projects, including the creation of a new institution in Kazakhstan. Beyond academia, he sees knowledge as a powerful tool for social and educational impact.
