The Artificial Intelligence impact and the Digitalization potential in Healthcare

Detalhe da Notícia

Micaela Seemann Monteiro, CUF Digital Clinical Director and alumna of the Postgraduate Program in Information Management and Business Intelligence in Healthcare of NOVA IMS, highlights the opportunities that are emerging with new artificial intelligence technologies allied to computational capacity as well as the digitalization potential in health.

By analyzing the data, it is possible to create algorithms that allow the calculation of a person's probability of developing a disease as well as taking preventive measures or diagnose it. Micaela has no doubts about the impact of new technologies on diseases such as cancer, as there are hospitals like Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, that use artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms that support doctors in interpreting mammograms to rule out cancer cases.

The pandemic brought a more digital approach to health care, emphasizing the trust that was earned in teleconsultation, due to the pandemic, an evolution that was expected to take years.

This digital approach stands out in cases where no physical contact between patient and doctor is required, such as “discussion of test results, doubts clarification, prescription renewal, and disease programmed evolutive control" as well as specialties such as psychiatry or psychology.
