World’s Top 2% Scientists 2024: Eight NOVA IMS professors recognized among the world’s leading researchers

Eight professors and researchers from NOVA IMS have been included in the latest edition of the Stanford Top Scientists 2024 ranking – a list that acknowledges the top 2% of researchers worldwide.
Tiago Oliveira, Leonardo Vanneschi, Paulo Rita, Fernando Bação, Mauro Castelli, Manuela Aparício, Georgios Douzas, and Pedro Cabral are the professors and researchers featured in this year’s edition.
The ranking, compiled by Stanford University in partnership with Elsevier, is based on rigorous criteria such as the h-index and number of citations, spanning a total of 22 scientific fields. The Stanford Top Scientists 2024 thus highlights the excellent work and significant contributions of each researcher within their areas of expertise.
Compared to the previous edition, NOVA IMS saw the inclusion of two new researchers in the Stanford Top Scientists 2024. Additionally, there was a 31% increase in the number of associated citations compared to 2023.
These results underscore the growing relevance and global impact of the research produced by NOVA IMS. As highlighted by Miguel de Castro Neto, Dean of NOVA IMS: “This recognition motivates us to continue investing in innovation and cutting-edge research, ensuring that NOVA IMS remains a reference both in Portugal and internationally.”
