The Center for Global Health is the contribution that NOVA IMS gives to the country to promote the generation and sharing of relevant knowledge in the area of Global Health policies, an issue that is increasingly on the agenda of countries as a result of the complexification of health needs, climate change and the scarcity of energy and natural resources. Particular emphasis is given to the use of digital technologies and data science and information management, where infodemiology stands out as one of its priorities.
As an academic centre with social responsibility, it aims to provide decision-makers and other actors in the global health ecosystem with tools and skills to accelerate the translation of science-based recommendations into public policy, legislation, interventions and/or education for Global Health that promote better indicators and generate value and health outcomes.
The Center for Global Health contributes to Portugal's insertion in international knowledge networks of governance, prevention, preparedness and resilience of health systems, particularly with the World Health Organization (WHO), as well as the leading European and multilateral agencies, with a view to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals related to Global Health, thereby increasing national capacity to address health risks.
