2025 Joana Rodrigues Pereira

Joana R. Pereira is the Executive Director of the NOVA Blockchain Lab at NOVA IMS. Before joining NOVA IMS, she was an Assistant Professor at Leeds University Business School in the United Kingdom. She holds a PhD in Technology Management from the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne in Switzerland and a bachelor's and master's degree in Business Administration from the Católica Lisbon School of Business and Economics in Portugal. Her research focuses on Blockchain and Web3 strategy, with a particular interest in factors influencing the market performance of cryptocurrencies, such as community effects, market cycles, interoperability, tokenomics, and governance.  

Her work has been published in international scientific journals such as Technological Forecasting and Social Change and IEEE, and presented at several leading international conferences, including the Academy of Management (AOM), European Academy of Management (EURAM), Strategic Management Society (SMS), International Open and User Innovation Conference (OUI), and the Annual World Open Innovation Conference (WOIC), among others.
