Notice: The 7^th edition of the Data Science Challenge, previously scheduled for May 25^th, has been postponed. All of those who registered to attend the event will be notified when a new date is confirmed.

In today’s world everything we do generates data. Such data may (and should!) be used by firms and public organizations to help them take all kinds of virtual decisions.

Did you know that every time you stop watching a series or a film on Netflix you are helping this platform to create better shows and movies?
Have you already noticed that Spotify can often guess the music pieces you love, even before you get to know them?
Did you know that a USA supermarket chain found out that a woman was pregnant before she knew it herself?

On May 25^th, NOVA IMS is organizing an event dedicated to addressing these topics, where we will present practical examples and launch a challenge, with prizes awarded to the first and second-place winners! Come and have a small glimpse of everything you can do with data in order to have a successful career!

Target

Secondary Education Students who wish to obtain knowledge about Data Science and Technology.

Date and duration

The Data Science Challenge will take place on May 25^th, 2024, from 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at NOVA IMS.

Language

Portuguese.

The challenge and prizes

Challenge

At the end of the program, a list of two thousand clients will be provided, so that the students may choose which should be contacted in connection with a marketing campaign.

Each contact will involve a cost and potential benefit. Once the data that were made available as well as the implementation of the concepts that were taught are analysed, the students will have three days to submit their Proposal, including the list of Customers that the firm should contact.

The first and second prizes will be awarded to those whose proposals were considered the best.

Prizes

1^st place
A 6-month subscription of Spotify Premium or a 70€ Netflix voucher.
2^nd place
A 3-month subscription of Spotify Premium or a 35€ Netflix voucher.
