NOVA Applied Economics & Analytics Lab: discover the new laboratory focused on modern applied economics
Detalhe da Notícia
The NOVA Applied Economics & Analytics Lab was created with the goal of using data-driven techniques to analyze and understand social and techno-economic dynamics, showcasing how these dynamics function as complex systems. Its mission is to comprehend the forces that shape the ever-evolving regulatory and societal landscape.
How will this be achieved? Under the leadership of Professors Bruno Damásio and Flávio Pinheiro, this innovative lab blends theoretical and practical applications of econometrics, including time series forecasting, macroeconomics, microeconomics, and causal inference. It also explores broad topics such as quantitative studies on science and technology, energy economics and sustainability, public procurement, complexity, and economic geography.
Notable projects developed by the lab include: the SIBER project, involving the OECD, the European Commission, and the Plan APP, which aims to standardize statistical information to improve legislative impact assessment. Additionally, the lab's portfolio includes a project focused on optimizing the efficiency and transparency of public procurement in Portugal (in collaboration with the OECD, European Commission, and Court of Auditors), and a project with the Foundation for Science and Technology, centered on evaluating the impacts of the European Union Incentives System on productivity in Portugal.
