Paulo Gomes holds a "Docteur D'Etat" degree in Statistics from the University of Montpellier, France. He has served as the President of the Portuguese Association for Classification and Data Analysis, President of the National Institute of Statistics, and Vice-President of the North Regional Coordination and Development Commission. He has published over two dozen articles in national and international journals and conferences throughout his scientific career. He has also served as the Chairman of the 54th Session of the International Statistical Institute.
