Exploring the potential of Power BI, a leading dashboarding platform that has consistently topped the Gartner Magic Quadrant for Analytics and Business Intelligence in recent years, this course addresses the challenge organizations face today in identifying the necessary data to produce information for inclusion in dashboards, and how to present it in a way that creates storytelling, allowing users to immediately grasp the challenges and opportunities facing the business at a glance.

By attending this course, participants will gain the necessary and sufficient knowledge to design multidimensional data architectures that support data-driven organizations and build effective and efficient dashboards capable of supporting decision-making by managing and providing the necessary information at the right time and in the appropriate format.

Objectives

  • Understand the Business Intelligence & Analytics process;
  • Understand the role of analytical applications, organizational performance monitoring, and visualization tools in the Information Discovery and Storytelling with Data process;
  • Identify and build key indicators for analytical applications in an organizational context;
  • Design dashboards that support storytelling of relevant information for decision-making (in Power BI).

Considering the democratization of access to Business Intelligence & Analytics platforms in modern organizations, acquiring knowledge in dashboard production becomes an opportunity for all those in a professional context who require effective, efficient decision-support information tailored to their specific needs. This course addresses the current challenges of real-time organizational performance tracking, enabling participants to respond to the demands of monitoring the organization's performance in real-time effectively, efficiently, and from any location.

General Information

The course will take place at NOVA IMS, on October 7th and 8th, 2024, at the Campolide Campus of NOVA University Lisbon. The training has a total duration of 16 hours.

Registrations for this course are made through the NOVA IMS Application Portal.

Course Fee

The fee for this course is €1,450. Included are: coffee breaks, lunches, parking access, and the issuance of a Participation Certificate.

Payment for the course fee can be made in installments: 40% upon confirmation of registration and 60% up to 2 weeks before the start of the course.

Language

This course will be taught in Portuguese.

Program

This intensive course is divided into two components:

An initial component introducing Business Intelligence, where the latest developments related to decision support capabilities enabled by Business Intelligence & Analytics platforms will be presented, along with the fundamental role of data dimensional modeling in dashboard construction;

An application component aimed at designing and building a prototype of the organization's governance dashboard, which will include identifying Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), determining the necessary information to obtain them, and deciding how they should be presented to users.

The course will be supported by the use of Microsoft Power BI technology, covering Power BI, Power BI Desktop, and Power BI Mobile.
