Students Outgoing

Bilateral Agreements are an international academic mobility option based on direct partnerships between higher education institutions. They allow NOVA IMS students to undertake a study period abroad, fostering international cooperation and providing exposure to different academic, scientific, and cultural contexts, in accordance with the conditions defined in each agreement.

Bilateral Agreements

An additional opportunity to pursue an academic experience outside the Erasmus+ framework. Bilateral Agreements allow students to study abroad under specific conditions, which may include a tuition waiver at the host university.

Are you interested in studying abroad?

As a NOVA IMS student, you have several opportunities to gain international experience during your academic journey. In addition to European mobility programmes, Bilateral Agreements allow you to study at a partner university abroad for one semester, under conditions specifically defined between the institutions.

As a rule, tuition fees at the host university are waived under the agreement. However, other mobility-related expenses (such as travel, accommodation, and insurance) are generally the student’s responsibility.

Bilateral Agreements offer an additional option to study abroad outside the Erasmus+ framework, providing access to partner universities in different regions and academic fields. Mobility conditions, the number of available places, and eligibility requirements may vary depending on each agreement in force.

The rules regarding selection criteria and application requirements set out in the NOVA IMS Erasmus+ Programme Regulation – Study Mobility apply to applications under Bilateral Agreements, with the exception of the funding scheme, as this mobility option does not include the allocation of mobility grants.

The mobility process is defined in coordination with NOVA IMS and includes the preparation of a study plan to be completed abroad, with a view to academic recognition upon approval and successful completion.

You may apply for a semester of mobility under Bilateral Agreements during the official application periods, which are usually announced at the beginning of the second semester of each academic year.

Note: Applications must be submitted in the academic year prior to the mobility period. This means that the mobility experience will normally take place in the academic year following the application.
