Rui Monteiro is an Adjunct Professor at NOVA Information Management School (NOVA IMS), Universidade Nova de Lisboa, where he has been collaborating since 2008 as a lecturer in Master’s and Doctoral programmes, teaching the Data Warehousing and Business Intelligence curricular units. Alongside his academic activity, he is currently Data Governance & Architecture Lead at TAP Air Portugal, where he leads the data governance and architecture strategy of the national airline. His professional career at TAP Air Portugal spans more than a decade, during which he previously served as Head of Insights & Analytics and managed the Business Intelligence & Analytics Competence Centre. Before joining the aviation sector, he developed a distinguished career at Closer Consulting as a Manager, working as Project and Account Manager in the implementation of large-scale Business Intelligence platforms. During this period, he coordinated critical technology and decision-support projects in sectors such as retail and investment banking, telecommunications, insurance, rent-a-car, and the promotion of innovation and scientific development. Throughout his career, he has also accumulated over ten years of experience in the management, administration and foundation of small companies in the education, services and restaurant sectors. He began his career in teaching as a lecturer in public secondary schools and has strong expertise in agile management methodologies, namely Scrum, functional analysis and team management. In terms of academic citizenship, he stood out for his institutional involvement, having served as Secretary of the Students’ Association and as a member of the University Senate. He holds a degree in Mathematics from the University of Aveiro and a Master’s degree in Knowledge Management and Business Intelligence from NOVA IMS. He completed the curricular component of the PhD in Information Management at NOVA IMS and is currently developing his research work focused on his doctoral thesis. His teaching activity and connection to the market focus on the main areas of Data and Advanced Analytics, promoting the practical application of scientific knowledge to real challenges faced by the business sector.
